Showcasing Kat Banks Jewelry

For sale: Art Deco 14k White Gold Sapphire or Ruby Diamond Ring May 27, 2009

Filed under: jewelry, personally kat — Kat @ 12:18 am

I have two identical rings, one set with a sapphire and one set with a ruby.  I could not decide which ring I wanted to work with more, so I purchased both rings. Now, I have too many pieces with which to work, so the easiest thing to do at this point is to eliminate the excess supply.

Price for each ring: $225.00
Shipping costs: $7.00 (if you purchase both rings, they will be shipped together for a single cost)

To purchase the sapphire ring, use the button below:

To purchase ruby ring, use the button below:

Rings are identical, so both are the same size.

For sale: Emerald cut blue topaz set in white gold ring May 26, 2009

Sometimes I wear this lovely item, and other times I plan for how I could work with this particular ring. For example, I am simply not pleased with the way this ring sits on my hand, so I always envisioned splitting the band and wrapping the two sides of the shank around a white gold bangle, thus creating a gorgeous blue rock sitting on my wrist, sparking like the sun-lit sky.

A beautiful white gold ring, ornamented with filigree flowers and vines, and capped with a lovely fleur de lys on the shoulders of the shank where it joins the basket of the ring itself. The filigree and engraving work done in the gold of this particular ring is just outstanding.

* size 11
* marked 14K white gold
* gemstone is emerald cut blue topaz

Price: $300.00
Shipping costs: $7.00 (includes insurance)

Goodness, there are so many unused jewelry pieces here.

As I work on posting jewelry pieces, one thing I have discovered is the true glut of jewelry pieces that I will not be using.

Keep in mind that most of my altered art pieces are used with bits and pieces of antique jewelry that have already been disassembled. However, there are times that there are simply too many pieces for my use.

For example, right now I have an abundance of rings (dozens) that are not being used in my pieces (at least to date). As a result, I am going to list a number for sale individually.  If I get hit by inspiration, I’ll just take them off sale.

Whilst I intend to include a sales button from paypal with each entry, in the event that I am unable to create said buttons through Paypal, please feel free to leave a comment and request sales information for each piece of jewelry.  Fingers cross, though, that I can figure out my paypal well enough to do this.

At a later date, I will add more filigree pieces that I have not yet used in my altered jewelry arts. If they strike your fancy, you will be able to purchase each item.

My name is Kat Banks. December 29, 2008

This is my part of the Internet.  The WWW seems little more than small pieces from all over to which people lay claim and this is mine.

I make jewelry.  I make a lot of jewelry.  I love jewelry.  To me, jewelry is a series of shiny toys put together in strange and unusual ways, like my Tinkertoys or Lincoln Logs of old. Figuring out how pieces go together is like playing with puzzle pieces, knowing that no matter how the puzzle turns out, it is still going to be of aesthetic value.

I consider myself an adornment artist with a focus on traditional crafts.  Basically, that means that I obsessively make things, and sometimes the things I make are extraordinarily well received.   To counter, of course, some things I make aren’t worth the materials used, but even then, it isn’t a bad thing.  Rather, when you make handmade items, errors aren’t seen as mistakes, but rather eclectic variations to the standard.

There are a number of other issues that absorb much of my focus.  I live outside Atlanta, which can be important when we deal with the cultural phenomenon of southern living.  I am the primary person for two of the most adored fourleggers (of the canine variety) that walk the earth.  I have another half, and he is pretty darned valuable in my scheme of both day to day and long-term happiness.

Everyone has a back story, and I am pretty pleased with mine.  There are a lot of chapters that are specifically unique (but of course, that can be said of anyone) and probably more importantly to me, a bit of a challenge.  Living those chapters put me here, so I am pretty happy with them, no matter what it was like on the way through.

The decision on how to limit the scope here still remains to be seen.  Having said that, I know my main focus is on my art pieces, and specifically the jewelry art.  As a result, it probably is best to start with that immediately.

Welcome to my piece.
